I know it isn’t peach season, but while going through my photos I thought “why not?”  I always enjoy doing some negative painting ehind my subject matter.

As you can see, I love painting flowers.  I always work from my own photos and hopefully catch the light.  Using complimentary colours in background, hopefully it will be eye pleasing.

Purple Iris

I am doing a collection of iris paintings for an upcoming Iris Convention taking place in Victoria this spring.  I need strong colours on some of them so they will transpose onto my gift items.

Signs of Spring

I noticed some snow drops out yesterday which is always nice in early January.  The daffodils and tulips are also peaking through which always surprises me since it is quite cold at night.  When the rest of the country is deep in snow it is nice to see these signs of spring.  I painted these tulips a few years ago.

This is a poured watercolor.  I poured on some primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and leaving some areas dry which would be the whites. You then have the fun of painting negatively to create a  picture.  I seemed to see lilies right from the start.

Majoo Cafe on the Rhine River

I had a wonderful River Cruise along the Rhine River this year and rather than take alot of paints and paper I opted for my pen and small container with watercolours.  I sat on a doorway one early Sunday morning doing this little Cafe that caught my eye.  It was done in 10 minutes..as you can imagine it is an impression of what was there.

I do have my photos to work from now and perhaps will do a larger, more accurate picture later.
